SRAA Teacher Grants Program
The Santa Rosa Art Association, Inc. is offering $100 art grants to individual classroom teachers (any discipline) and up to $250 for teams or grade level teachers (any discipline) in Santa Rosa County for use in the spring term of 2007. The money used must fund art education projects of some kind (creation, history, or appreciation) and produce tangible proof of completion.
The teachers applying for a grant may submit as individuals or as a team, may be assigned to any grade level, and do not have to be art teachers.
Evidence of satisfactory completion may be art products, documents, video or photographs, etc. Teachers who are selected will receive the funds in their school accounts by January, with expected completion and documentation by May 1, 2007.
A teacher’s typed proposal, one to two pages, of the art education project must be submitted to SRAA by mail no later than November 10. The winning teacher(s) will be notified of their grant awards by December 11, 2006. Any teacher whose proposal is accepted must be assigned to the intended grade and school in the term that the grant application states to receive the money.
Any teacher who moves, is unable to complete the project, or is reassigned to a setting in which the grant cannot be completed as originally proposed is asked to contact the SRAA grant chair by email at jaykd@msn.com or phone at 623-3711 by January 3, 2007, so that an alternate teacher can be offered the grant. These contacts can also be used by anyone who has questions while preparing his/her grant proposal.
The grant application should include the following information:
1. Describe the project and list some objectives that will be met.
2. Explain the benefit to students, the number of students and teachers involved, and how the project will impact students, school, or community.
3. Give a detailed expense account of how the funds will be used. (Copies of the receipts for expenditures will be required for submission in December.)
4. Tell how verification that the project was completed as proposed will be submitted.
Student examples, tours, art “shows,” photographs, etc. are acceptable proof.
